AMAR JYOTI SEVA KENDRA - AJSK
‘Amar Jyoti Seva Kendra’, is a unit of the registered NGO ‘Diocese of Varanasi Social Welfare Society (DOVSWS) with its head office in Varanasi. DOVSWS has established its district offices in Ballia, Ghazipur and Mau to carry out the interventions in the field. Similarly, Amar Jyoti Seva Kendra is a new unit of DOVSWS to carry out the developmental interventions in Chandauli district (U.P). The functional office is at Vill. & P.O. Khadera, Sakaldiha, Dt. Chandauli.
Women empowerment
Socio, economic and political development of women. Women’s self-help groups (SHG) are promoted at the village level. Capacity building of new and old SHGs are done for the group management and financial regulations. In the next year it would focus on the economic development through income generating activities.
Skill Development Programme
The organization has begun skill development programme at AJSK. At present training on tailoring is going on and 41 girls are benefiting from this programme.
Adolescent Empowerment
The organization is focusing on the family life education of the adolescents girls. Adolescents groups are being promoted in all the villages of the intervention areas. So far 18 adolescents groups are formed with 396 members. Adolescents health, education, legal literacy and skill trainings are given importance. Adolescents leadership, health education and health camps are conducted at the organizational level.
Intervention with Vanvasi (Musahar) community
The organization has initiated its intervention with Musahar community on education and development. One women SHG has been formed in Belwani village and children are encouraged and assisted to go to attend their classes regularly.
Organic Farming
The organization has programme with farmers groups and marginal farmers on ‘Sustainable Agriculture through Organic Farming’. Now the interventions are at the initial stage. The staffs are contacting the farmers and motivating them on the benefits of the sustainable agriculture through organic farming.
Intervention Area
The organization has begun its interventions from January, 2019. In the initial stage the interventions are made in 30 villages both in Sakaldiha and Chahania blocks.
