Lalita Devi is an active member in the women self-help group in her village. She regularly attend the meetings and did the saving. She is also very enthusiastic to learn new things. Therefore she did not miss any trainings conducted by the organization for the women.
The organization conducted training for the women farmers on sustainable agriculture through organic farming. Lalita Devi participated in the training and learned the benefit of growing organic food. She understood that the more use of pesticide will harm human body. She decided to prepare one organic shed for the preparation of vermi compost. The organization gave incentive to Lalita and the staff facilitated to prepare the organic shed.
Lalita Devi is happy to use the vermi compost manure prepared in the organic shed. She uses them to grow the vegetables in their garden that is used for their consumption. She also uses the vermi compost in the seasonal crops like paddy and wheat and has reduced the quantity of the chemical fertilizer. She is convinced that that chemical free food would increase their immunity power and keep the family in good health.
